How Do Runes Work in The First Descendant?
The First Descendant Runes that improve stats can be attached to descendants and weapons.
There are five different sorts of weapon runes in The First Descendant (Storm, Torrent, Tide, Thunder, and Haze), and various rune types have an impact on various types of weapons in The First Descendant.
Go to Inventory to determine which Rune type affects your weapon (I)
The line indicating the rune type that affects the weapon in use can be checked by clicking the rune type link on the left.
As indicated below, when selecting a rune type, information about the rune slot and capacity for each rune type is displayed;
After equipping the rune, the affected weapon type and stats are visible on the right.
Runes are obtained either by completing quests or by killing enemies.
You are unable to equip all of your acquired runes, though. Runes can only be equipped in accordance with the quantity of Descendant/Weapon Rune slots and capacity, as shown in the image above.

The research quest can be used to obtain the other 9 Descendants in addition to the initially chosen Descendant.
