The Witcher Monster Slayer Equipment and Items
At the start of the game, you will only have a Steel sword. Monsters are vulnerable to either steel or silver swords. Using the right type gives a damage bonus, but you can fight any monster with any sword. Silverswords can only be purchased from the store with coins
How to Earn Gold in The Witcher Monster Slayer
You can earn gold coins a few ways in-game:
- Completing a daily quest/task,
- Completing certain story quests,
- The first three nemetons you fight each 24 hours will give you 50 coins each.
Don’t be afraid to craft and use consumables (oils/potions/bombs). When starting out you will need these to defeat harder monsters – at least until you get experienced in the combat. Oils also give bonus XP when the correct type is used against a monster
Inventory space can be challenging to manage if you are crafting/using a lot of potions/oils/bombs. Your gifts also count against your inventory limit.
The inventory can be expanded by paying for bags in the store. Each bag can be purchased once for a max inventory size of 1000. However, many players find they can get by with one or two upgrades if you don’t like to hoard items.

You gain skill points by leveling up (5 per level) and filling out the bestiary by defeating monsters (1 point per rank/level)
The spooky/creepy trees you see on the map are called Nemetons. These are a nest-type fight where you fight three monsters in a row, the last monster being harder than the first two. You can fight them from level 10.
Nemetons reward you with extra XP, and the first three you complete every 24 hours will give you 50 gold coins each.
Once a Nemeton has been defeated you can use a bait (store item) to summon a new set of monsters to fight in that Nemeton again.
All Nameta reset on a 24-hour timer
Spawns occur at roughly the same frequency in urban and rural areas. However, you will see more of certain monsters depending on your environment, time of day, weather, etc.
The in-game bestiary has more information on where/when different monsters will show up.
Suggestions on what/when to spend your coins on
As you level up your character, you will receive rewards such as potions and materials in addition to the items you get from killing monsters – which means that your inventory space will fill up quickly, and you will have to consider what you will do with your hard-earned gold.
The general consensus is that getting a silver sword ASAP should be everyone’s priority, but if you are the kind of player that likes hoarding resources, you can proceed to purchase a saddlebag from the shop before you get a silver sword
